Visiting Mt. Baker

Last weekend Chris had Friday off and Alex was still on spring break, so we took off for Bellingham on Friday, spent the night, and journeyed to Mt. Baker the next day.  The original plan was to drive to the scenic overlook (about 8 miles in), but we missed it, and kept going and kept looking for it until we passed the point of no return and decided to go up the mountain as far as we could.  (I am relieved that we own a Jeep.)  We got to about 5000 feet and stopped, partially because we didn’t want to get stuck there, partially because in front of us was a queue for a ski resort, and partially just because it was getting late in the day.  These houses were buried by snowdrifts at the point where we turned around to go back down.

We plan to revisit Bellingham again (with a little more legwork ahead of time to find interesting things to do) but I am not sure we’ll go up the mountain again!
